[Petersburg, VA, May 27, 2023] The Petersburg (VA) Chapter of The Links, Incorporated, a distinguished organization dedicated to community service, proudly celebrated its 75th anniversary on May 27. The event was a resounding success, with over 300 esteemed guests attending the memorable occasion.
The evening was filled with elegance, camaraderie, and festivity as members of the Petersburg community, along with local and national dignitaries, gathered to honor this significant milestone. The chapter's commitment to empowering the community was celebrated with a delightful combination of dinner and dancing, creating a joyous atmosphere throughout the night.
The gala opened with a special anniversary prayer and grace from Reverend Dr. Andrew J. White and Reverend Dr. George W.C. Lyons, Jr., respectively. Ethel Isaacs Williams, J.D., National President of The Links, Incorporated, brought greetings on behalf of the national leadership and more than 17,000 professional women members. Her presence added a touch of distinction to the celebration, highlighting the significant impact the Petersburg (VA) Chapter has made over the past 75 years. Other notable guests of The Links, Incorporated, included Cheryl Burke, National Nominating Chair, Barbara McEachin-Burton, Eastern Area Vice Director, and Denise Lewis, Eastern Area Secretary.
The chapter was honored with a special proclamation presented by The Honorable Reverend Darrin Hill, Vice Mayor, on behalf of Mayor Samuel Parham and the City of Petersburg. The proclamation recognized the chapter's unwavering commitment to improving the quality of life for residents in Petersburg. This recognition further highlights the remarkable contributions of the chapter and its members.
The celebration was made even more exceptional by the gracious presence of esteemed host Joi Fultz, WTVR CBS 6, who skillfully ensured that the event unfolded flawlessly. Gala chair Rose Muse, together with co-chairs Yourdonous James and Angela Barnes-Hargrees, and honorary chair Ann C. Taylor played instrumental roles in organizing and orchestrating a remarkable evening that will be remembered for years to come.
